Godwits are beautiful migratory birds. During April they fly from the southern countries to the north, some of them thankfully land in the Netherlands. They nest on meadows and fields, feeding on bugs and parasitic insects, protecting cultures. Godwits are an great gift for the land.
In May 2015 I spent at least one morning every week, from sunrise until noon, in the Arkenheem polder observing these beautiful birds trying to capture their behaviour.
In June they move away from the poler, once the nests don't need protection anymore, to ultimately leave the Netherlands in August.
